What the record says
- c.Principal inn. A gazetteer edited from 19th-century sources names the "Principal Inns, Crown, and Three Greyhounds". We have not yet pinned this to a dated directory.[22]
- ✓Where it stood. "The Three Greyhounds (next to the post office on Horsefair) originally the home of the Mauleverer family".[1]
- ✓The annexe. The Post Office and former annexe to the Three Greyhounds Hotel is listed Grade II (list entry 1150090, listed 25 August 1976). It has an early 19th-century appearance and may contain earlier fabric. When it was listed the Post Office used the right wing and the rest was disused.[7]
- ❝Remembered. Bernard Porter's memories list "The Three Grey Hounds" among the town's hostelries.[2]
