Known history
Recorded among the historic hostelries of Bridge Street. Bernard Porter's 2010 notes identify the former premises as a care home, showing how former hospitality buildings took on new uses as coaching and local trade changed.

His memories add that it stood opposite the Three Horse Shoes, overlooking the river, and was a licensed restaurant in 1985.

Historic England's listing for Riverside Court, Bridge Street, says it was formerly listed as The Blinking Owl Public House: an early-to-mid 19th-century former pub.
